Dehradun
Popularly known as Doon valley this hill station is the capital of Uttaranchal Pradesh that is situated at the foothills of Shivalik Ranges in India at an altitude of 2200 feet above sea level. This is one of the major tourist attractions of the state. Here tourists come to enjoy the exotic beauty of the state. Dehradun is an entry point for all the mountaineers and trekkers onto their journey into the Garhwal Himalayas. This is gateway to the popular hill station of Mussoorie and the pilgrimage centres of Rishikesh and Haridwar. Forest Research Institute : It is credited as a top-notch institute committed to forest research. Here you will find museum that has rich collection of biological specimens and the botanical gardens within the campus.
Tapkeshwar Temple : This is the temple of lord Maheshwar or shiva, known for strict ritual of meditation. This temple offers a wonderful picturesque of valley with gushing river flowing.
Malsi Deer Park : It is the sanctuary of deer's that is located just 8km from the city center.
Sahastradhara : This is sulfur springs that are believed to cure certain skin diseases. The greenery and the foam of waterfalls make it a best picnic spot.
Robber's Cave : This is known for the stream of water that disappears and flows underground. The amazing thing is that it again reappears as a stream of water after some distance.
Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology : This is well known for the museum with a rich geological collection of India. There you will find number of rock samples, semi-precious stones and fossils.
Lakshman Siddh Temple : this place is famous for its spiritual importance where lakshman the younger brother of lord Rama has undergone reparation after killing Ravana, the demon king.
